Roswell, New Mexico - Monday afternoon
Dec. 22nd, 2008 02:10 pmOne of the benefits of the Parkers thinking of Isabel as family was that they didn't mind when she collapsed into a booth after a long morning of Christmas shopping, ordered a hot chocolate and then didn't move for a few hours while she waited for the guys to get back from their own frantic last minute shopping trip.
Head resting on her arm, she watched as Maria and Liz bustled around the crowded diner without missing a step.
She must have been more tired then she thought because suddenly her eyes closed.
( This is not my wonderful life )

Nov. 10th, 2008 07:47 pmThe wedding had been wonderful, and it was great to catch up with friends. But unfortunately Monday found Isabel back in real life with not a single talking animal to be seen.
She made it through her classes, spent some time at the gym, had dinner, and finally made it back to her room just in time to start researching information for her next psych paper. That was, when she wasn't being distracted by games that were being shared by people on her Google Reader.

So the weekend had been interesting.
She'd had an affair with her boyfriend, a catfight with Summer, gone trolling for cheap sex with Parker, had angry sex with Chris and then woken up with him to mutual flailing.
Fortunately Parker had been kind enough to let her use her room to shower, change clothes, and work up the courage to head to the other floor.
Eventually Isabel did manage to make her way back to the room. Only to stop inside the door when she realized that the maids hadn't been by to clean yet. It was obvious Wyatt had had a good time the night before. The question was, with who. Isabel was pretty sure she knew.
Somehow the thought that he was going to be as facepalmy as she was wasn't much of a comfort.
Ignoring the sticky remains of whipped cream and melted candle wax, Isabel started to pack her bag for the trip back to school.

Oct. 11th, 2008 08:29 amIsabel yawned and stretched with the satisfied demeanor of a woman who'd had a very enjoyable, and energetic evening. A glance at the bedside clock showed that it was still early enough that she didn't need to worry about getting back to her husband, not that she really cared about him all that much anyway, but there was an image to be maintained. Turning to the other body in the bed, she slid her hand down his side.
"Wakey, wakey," she purred.

Aug. 22nd, 2008 05:11 pmHer parents had left to make the trip back to Roswell, her roommate was off to start setting up her studio, and Isabel had finally finished hanging up pictures and posters in her new dorm room. Satisfied, and exhausted because late night Olympic watching was going to kill her, she sat down with her laptop to check out the list of theme camps at Burning Man.

There were a million different things that still needed to be done in order to get ready for the wedding and Isabel should probably still be in Neptune to take care of them.
But it was the night of the best meteor shower of the year. And more importantly, it was time spent alone with Wyatt. Between his getting settled in San Francisco and her going crazy with wedding plans, they'd barely gotten to spend any time together over the last few weeks.
Which was why, when Wyatt turned up at the Echolls mansion, it had only taken a minute's consideration before she'd tossed the clipboard and her cell phone aside to go and pack for a night out.
Now, as she unloaded the camping stuff they'd borrowed from her parents, Isabel could only smile. "This was a very, very good idea."

Roswell, evening
Jul. 18th, 2008 08:36 pmEven though there had been some discussion of wedding plans, Isabel had managed not to get too carried away with the planning and had instead spent the last week enjoying time with Wyatt and her family.
Unfortunately though, Wyatt did have a family of his own to get back to. Which meant it was time for him to head off to San Francisco. Isabel was trying hard not to think about how that could go wrong. After dinner with her family they took a ride out into the desert, partly to see the show but mostly because good-byes, even if they were only going to be temporary, were easier without a crowd.
[For the boyfriend and potential slowplay. Stupid cold.]

After the first day of marathon driving, Isabel and Wyatt had slowed down the pace of the trip and spent more time checking out Food Network featured Diners, Drive-ins and Dives as well as Graceland and any other tacky tourist trap that caught their interest.
It was just after they'd crossed the border into Oklahoma that Isabel realized that their route was going to parallel Route 66 for the next several hundred miles. That night she spent a few hours googling all of the fun things to see along the way.
They'd seen The Round Barn, the Route 66 Museum and left their mark with a can of spray paint at the Cadillac Ranch. Now it was their last night on the road; and they were spending it at the historicBlue Swallow Motel. It certainly wasn't the most luxurious place they could have stayed but there was a certain level of kitsch that amused them both. Or at least it amused Isabel, particularly when Wyatt attempted to take a shower in the teeny tiny bathroom.
Sitting comfortably on the bed, she listened to the voicemail her mother had left while they'd been spray painting Cadillacs and then let it roll into the voicemail Tinkerbell had left and that she'd saved because it amazed her how much a sniffle and some jingling could say. With a grin she closed the phone and set it aside. They'd be in Roswell tomorrow and her mother could talk to her about shopping for college then.
Wyatt was still grumbling in the shower and she debated joining him for a moment but then realized there just wasn't enough space, no matter how close they got. Instead Isabel picked up the remote for the TV and started to flip channels. Hopefully the motel got Bravo so she wouldn't miss Shear Genius.

Room 406, all day
Jul. 3rd, 2008 11:15 amIt hadn't been a bad last week in Fandom. Between being social, seals, presents, and reality TV, it was certainly memorable. Even if the good-byes weren't so much fun.
There wasn't much left to pack. But Isabel was taking her time doing it.
The door was open.

Room 406, evening
Jun. 28th, 2008 09:29 pmIt was Saturday night. Which meant Isabel was curled up with popcorn watching a bad Skiffy movie.
"This has to be a new record," she told the TV. "Thirty minutes in and still no sign of a plot."
The door was open.

Room 406, later in the evening
Jun. 22nd, 2008 09:26 pmIt hadn't been the weekend Isabel had planned on. She'd been grabbed on her way to town and spent two days in Tartarus screaming.
But she'd finally been rescued and made her way back to her room.
Cold, tired, and worried about what Wyatt was doing in the midst of all this, Isabel pulled a blanket around her shoulders and curled up on her bed to wait for him.

Room 406, Saturday morning
Jun. 21st, 2008 09:33 amAfter leaving Cal's room, Isabel had done just what she'd said she would, gone back to her room and immediately gone to sleep. She wasn't sure when Wyatt had turned up, all she knew was at some point there was a warm body to snuggle up to.
Isabel was in the midst of a pleasant dream, and certainly not ready to wake up, when suddenly there was an announcement.
"You've got to be kidding me."
