Isabel would have preferred to be browsing internet gossip sites while nibbling popcorn and watching a rather spectacular celebrity implosion.

Unfortunately it was mid-terms week.

See Isabel study. Study Isabel. Study.

[She is so completely interruptable.]
A Christmas Tale was playing on the TV as Isabel took advantage of her night off to finish wrapping the small mountain of gifts she'd gotten for all her family and friends in Roswell. She was really, really glad that Wyatt would be orbing them home on Christmas Eve because otherwise the excess baggage fees would have been insane.

Eggnog and Christmas cookies within reach, Isabel was one happy Christms Nazi.
Some couples had a standing Friday night movie date or a Saturday night dinner date. Isabel and Wyatt had to be just a little different. Their standing date involved a blanket in the desert and show in the sky.

"Look!" Isabel said, pointing her finger towards the sky. "Another one. Make a wish."
The problem with being too jazzed up to sleep after working a busy Saturday night was that there was nothing worthwhile watching on TV.

Isabel knew she should change the channel. Any movie that featured the line "He planted the seed of the beast in my body" in the opening scene was truly going to be bad. She could feel her brain cells dying as the minutes slipped by.

But she couldn't look away. "Oh honey, you really are too dumb to live," she muttered as the female lead accepted a ride from the creepy stranger with an accent.

[This is just a little okay a lot NWS]
If you dream them, they will come...

The words quietly echoed through Isabel's head as she woke up, straining to remember the details of the dream she'd been having. She'd been in the Crashdown eating pie with Alex as they laughed, held hands and watched Liz and Maria serve plates of food to alien looking tourists.

She wasn't sure why the dream disturbed her as much as it did. It wasn't a nightmare. Isabel knew nightmares. They might not happen as much anymore, but every once in while, she still dreamed of Kivar, or relived being kidnapped. But this was no nightmare, instead Isabel smiled, she might not remember the words they exchanged, but she could still feel the warmth and contentment she'd felt sitting at the table.

Isabel sighed and turned restlessly, unable to help feeling guilty as a Wyatt's arm tightened around her. It seemed wrong to be dreaming about Alex when Wyatt was the one there with her. Carefully, Isabel slipped from the bed. Maybe a cup of tea would help her settle down so she could go back to sleep.
The day's plans were supposed to include shopping, lunch out, and possibly some dancing later that evening. Except those were the plans of 20 year old Isabel. Six year old Isabel was much happier spending the afternoon at the park playing on the swings, happily looking forward to a promised dinner at the Crashdown.

"Parker! Wyatt! Maria! Look at me! I'm almost flying!"
Thanks to the efforts of Veronica, Piper, Chris & Summer, the Hyperion was decorated nicely for Wyatt's birthday and there was plenty of food to eat.

Now it was just a matter of the birthday boy arriving. Don't worry, Isabel would make sure he'd be there on time.

So it had been an eventful weekend. But it was over and for the moment everything was right with the world.

Well almost everything.

Snuggled up to Wyatt as they watched the Golden Globes and critiqued outfits, Isabel ran her fingers through Wyatt's now much shorter hair. "I'm not sure I'll ever get used to this."
Despite two finals that morning and an afternoon and evening spent keeping five different Christmas parties running smoothly, Isabel was still pretty awake when she finally made it back to her apartment.

Deciding to take advantage of some quiet time, she started going through some of the papers and envelopes that had accumulated on her desk. The envelope from the photo lab made her pause. She'd ordered the pictures shortly before Peter had died and knowing that he was in several of the carnival and Homecoming shots, had put the envelope aside when it arrived after the explosion.

Climbing into bed, she opened the envelope and slowly went through the pictures, smiling at the memories and wishing somehow she'd been able to save him.

The long day finally caught up with her, and Isabel fell asleep, a picture of Peter still in her hand.
Close to twelve hours on her feet helping keep multiple events running smoothly meant that Isabel was exhausted when she finally crawled into bed. Sleep came quickly.

And the nightmares soon followed.

She was back in Kirby Plaza watching from the shadows as Peter confronted Sylar. )

Isabel sat upright with a gasp. Maybe someday she'd get used to the nightmares, but it wasn't going to be any time soon.

[Establishy unless the boyfriend feels like waking up.]
Her morning portal from Fandom to Vegas had been canceled so it was late by the time Isabel finally made it home. She hadn't slept since she'd left Vegas and exhaustion and grief were finally catching up to her. One wrong word and the careful control she was just barely hanging onto would be gone.

Her movements slow and deliberate, Isabel took a shower and made herself a cup of tea before retreating to her room to hide for the night. Glancing at her phone on her nightstand, she realized that she hadn't talked to Wyatt since they'd exchanged texts on Saturday.

It seemed so long ago.

He deserved a call, but that would require explanations of everything that had happened and Isabel wasn't sure she'd be able to do that without breaking down.
Given the angel statues, plague, kidnappers, evil teddy bears and other crises they'd had to deal with, it was hard to believe it had only been two years, Isabel thought as she set things up for that evening's date. Fortunately, other then random weirdness, things had been pretty quiet since they'd left Fandom. That thought that caused immediate facepalming, because wow, jinx much?

Since it was Vegas there were certainly more exciting ways to spend the evening, but Isabel figured a picnic under the stars that recreated their first date would be more romantic and hopefully make up for how busy she'd been with school and work the last few weeks.

After setting up the blankets and double checking the contents of the coolers, Isabel stretched out on the blanket with her management book to study while she waited for Wyatt to arrive.
Fortunately Isabel was an old hand at Fandom weirdness. After waking up as a guy, she'd hidden out in her room until she heard her roommate leave the apartment for the day. Since she didn't feel like explaining who she was to her classmates, she texted one of her study partners to send her the lecture notes, then settled into do some work for her independent study classes.

Fortunately Isabel didn't have to work that night. After getting a message from Sarah that she was staying in studio for the night which meant she wouldn't have to go back to hiding in her room, Isabel settled in for a night of models, crazy survivalists, and bitchy chefs.

Life, despite it's little quirks, couldn't get better.
