izzyalienqueen | Desert Outside Roswell, Monday night till early Tuesday morning

There were a million different things that still needed to be done in order to get ready for the wedding and Isabel should probably still be in Neptune to take care of them.

But it was the night of the best meteor shower of the year. And more importantly, it was time spent alone with Wyatt. Between his getting settled in San Francisco and her going crazy with wedding plans, they'd barely gotten to spend any time together over the last few weeks.

Which was why, when Wyatt turned up at the Echolls mansion, it had only taken a minute's consideration before she'd tossed the clipboard and her cell phone aside to go and pack for a night out.

Now, as she unloaded the camping stuff they'd borrowed from her parents, Isabel could only smile. "This was a very, very good idea."

"It was touch and go for awhile," Wyatt said. "Like the time when I was 14 and put all the whites in the washing machine with a red shirt mixed in."

"And let me guess, you used hot water?" Isabel sat down on the sleeping bags and leaned back as she watched Wyatt set up the fire.

Yes, she contentedly was admiring the view.

"Ooops," Wyatt said, making a neat pyramid out of the firewood. Why, yes, he had been a boy scout.

"I bet you looked just adorable in pink."

"You know," she said, raising an eyebrow, "the longer you fuss with making sure the fire's just perfect, the longer you're not over here."

"Good point," Wyatt said, leaving the fire to decide its own fate and dropping down on the sleeping bags beside Isabel.

"I'm smart like that." Wiggling across the nylon of the sleeping bag, Isabel moved till she was leaning against Wyatt's side. "If I was still in Neptune at this point I'd probably be doing battle with the glue gun trying to get some decorations done. This is a better way to spend the evening."

"Much better," Wyatt agreed, wrapping his arm around Isabel. "I'm more snuggly than a hot glue gun."

"Decidedly so. And fortunately not quite as furry as the teddy bear."

She'd missed this. Missed the contact. Missed the feel of him. Closing her eyes, Isabel let out a quiet sigh of contentment.

"Does it get much better then this?"

"I don't think so," Wyatt said, inhaling the scent of her hair with his own contented sigh. "You and the stars, what more could I want?"

"Oh, I can probably think of a few things," she said mysteriously. Well, mysterious until Wyatt noticed the hand that slid down to rest on his hip.

"Marshmallows for one."

Wyatt lazily flicked his fingers and orbed a marshmallow between his lips. He leaned into Isabel, trying not to laugh and drop the marshmallow.

Amused, Isabel leaned back slightly as she tapped the marshmallow with her finger, warming it to the proper, if slightly gooey, temperature. Then she tried to take a bit.

This could get messy.

Definitely very messy, as Wyatt nibbled his end of the marshmallow, which of course led straight into kissing Isabel.

It was a very sticky kiss. Not that Isabel was complaining. No, not at all. "Tasty," she said nipping at his lip.

"Very," Wyatt agreed, his tongue darting out to lick some of the white sticky mess (not dirty) from her lower lip.

She shivered and tightened her hold on Wyatt's hip. "We just need some chocolate syrup and it could be a new way to eat s'mores."

"That can be arranged," Wyatt said mischievously.

"I bet. But let's hold off on that till we're someplace with a shower." Because while Isabel knew it would be fun, she didn't feel like having every insect and critter in the desert attempting to crawl into the sleeping bags with them. "I'm adventurous. But that's pushing it."

"Spoilsport," Wyatt teased, kissing away the last of the marshmallow. "All right, I suppose we can enjoy them the old fashioned away."

"Spoilsport nothing! Do you know what lives out here?" she asked, waving around at the surrounding desert and then pointing towards the newly dark sky. "And now it's dark! They'll be looking for someplace warm to sleep. So yes, old fashioned it is tonight."

"Black-footed ferrets?" Wyatt asked, looking around.

"No, ferrets are cuddly," Isabel laughed. "But, they're too far north from here. I was thinking more along the lines of snakes and other creepy critters."

"Once again, you win with the best plan of the night. Some marshmallows, the traditional way?" she asked, not moving away just yet. "And then making wishes on shooting stars?"
